The Cargo Journeys: Transport Challenge is an engaging lesson that introduces students to the complexities of transportation in global trade through gamification. All the three activities promote critical thinking and problem-solving while learning about sustainability in logistics and transportation. The activities progressively build on each other, enhancing students’ problem-solving skills.
The packaging design challenge provides a hands-on approach to learn about logistics while having fun and producing a physical prototype. However, 25 minutes (according to the guide) might not be sufficient. It could benefit from more time, potentially split over two lessons; first focusing on the first three stages of design thinking while prototyping and testing in the next class.
The “Trade Trek” board game is accessible for all ages. The guide provides easy-to-follow through instructions on how to use the different cards, game board and other materials. While the game mechanics might require a few attempts to master, the easy-to-follow instructions and enjoyable gameplay make it a valuable educational tool that develops strategy thinking while having fun.
